CATECHISM RESOURCES
In the year 2001 I initiated a project
to present the material found in the Catechism of the Catholic Church (CCC) in a Baltimore Catechism question and answer format, as explained
elsewhere on this website
Journey
. The project was completed in August 2002. Sections from the CCC
were selected according to
the various topics appropriate for discussion at RCIA meetings. The answers to
the various questions are quotations from the Catechism, or paraphrases of it.
The CCC tends to be very wordy in explaining some concepts,
so the text was simplified in a number of cases. There are also topics not
thoroughly covered by the Catechism, so we supplemented the CCC text in some instances. In all cases we were careful to have our
edited versions reflect as closely as possible the spirit and the formulation
of the Catechism itself. It is hoped that these Catechism paraphrases will be
found helpful to the viewers. The
sidebar provides links to the questions and answers that were assembled for 34
individual topics of interest. This
material was originally posted on our website
www.rciaresources.com in March, 2006,
and is repeated here.
In 2005 the Church issued the
Compendium of the Catechism which represents a similar project, and the reader
is urged to consult this work

for a more authoritative presentation of the teachings of the CCC in a question and answer format.
